This popular and attractive plant is native to Brazil and one of the reasons for this plant for being so popular with plant lovers is the Red vibrant strips that fill the leaves. As well as the red strips these plants leave dawn a pale and dark green feathered pattern. To add to its charm the plants foliage folds up at night and unfold at dawn.
Watering
Keep the soil moist from spring to autumn, and slightly drier in the winter. Stand on a tray of damp pebbles and mist regularly.
Feeding
Apply a half strength liquid fertilizer every 2 weeks in spring to autumn.
Planting and Care
Plant in a more soil-based compost. Repot every 2-3 years.
