These amazing leaves are one of a crowd’s favourites, with dark green brushstrokes on the top and deep burgundy underneath. Not the easiest of the plants to care for but the striking appearance makes it all worthwhile.
Watering
Use rainwater or distilled to keep the soil moist from spring to autumn, and just moist in the winter. Mist daily with tepid water. Using a tray of pebbles or install a humidifier to keep the humidity up.
Feeding
Apply a half strength liquid fertilizer every 2 weeks from spring to autumn.
Planting and Care
Plant in a 2:1 soil and perlite mix. Set in filtered light or somewhere shaded, out of direct sun and draughts. Keep warm all year round. Repot ever 2-3 years when pot bound.
