The Pilea peperomioides is a popular houseplant thanks to its attractive coin-shaped foliage and ease of care. This plant is native to China growing naturally along the base of the Himalayan mountains. The Pilea peperomioides has many other names it is know by, Chinese money plant, coin plant, pancake plant and UFO plant because of its unusual leaves. The leaves make it one of the most attractive house plants.
Watering
Allow the plant to nearly dry out between watering and then water fully allowing the water to drip out the drainage hole. The leaves will begin to droop when the plant needs water which is a great indication that it is time for watering.
Feeding
Fertilize once a month in the spring and summer months and avoid fertilizing during the winter months. Use a balanced all-purpose fertilizer.
Planting and Care
This plant thrives in moderate to bright indirect light, rotating it regularly to keep the plant looking symmetrical. Plant is a well-draining soil.
Propagating – Nicknamed the sharing plant, this plant produces offshoots, these will grow up from the root system. Once the offshoots are a couple of inches tall it is safe from the mother plant if you want to, for a full looking plant you can also leave them with the mother plant.
